BUFFALO, N.Y. (CW-23) - It's almost time for the kids to get back to school and sports, but as Dr. Steven Lana of Delaware Pedacrics will tell you, don't let them go to that first tryout or practice without a trip to your doctor, first.

Dr. Lana's Tips for a Successful Physical Exam:

  • If at all possible, a parent should accompany child for a sports physical
  • Be knowledgeable of family medical history
  • Be prepared to answer questions about past injuries, especially previous head injuries
  • A sports physical is also a great time to make sure you're up to date on vaccines such as Influenza, Tdap and Meningitis
