BUFFALO, NY (CW23) - We dare you to eat just one of Chrusciki Bakery's delicious Buffalo Angel Wings. These Polish pastries are a hit at the Taste of Buffalo each year and even inspire the bakery's name: "chrusciki" means "angel wings" in Polish!

Buffalo Angel Wings

Ingredients:

3 eggs
3 tbs. sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
2 tbs. rum or brandy
1/4 tbs. salt
3 to 3 1/4 cups flour, sifted
vegetable oil for deep frying
confectioners sugar for dusting

Directions:

Beat eggs and sugar together, then blend in sour cream, vanilla and rum or brandy. Fold in sifted flour and salt.
Knead dough until dough is smooth, then cut off a small portion of dough and roll out as thin as possible. Cut into 2-inch wide strips, cutting a one-inch slit in the middle of each strip.
Heat oil to 350 degrees and slide seven or eight chrusciki into the oil. They should pop to the top of the oil after a few seconds and will turn light brown on the bottom.
Flip the chrusciki with a fork so both sides become browned. Remove and drain on paper towels, then shake confectioner's sugar over the top.
