BELMONT, N.Y. (WIVB) - News 4 and CW23 want everyone to "thnk b4 u txt."
Our campaign to end texting while driving got the attention of the Amity Rescue Squad in Belmont. We sent hundreds of thumb bands their way in time for a sobering demonstration Wednesday afternoon at Genesee Valley Central School in Belmont. The mock car accident shows the consequences of texting at the wheel.
Paige Demick said, "A lot of my friends are, you know, we text when we drive, sometimes, and there's a lot of parties going on, whether it be prom, graduation parties, and it's unsafe, and, other neighboring schools have had drunk driving accidents and I'd like Genesee Valley to see what happens when one really goes down and it'll impact our whole school."
Free reminder thumb bands are available at several local merchants. See the full list of locations here .
